I wish I have a digicam to take pictures, because Hawaii just blew me away. I have been in the Pacific Islands for a week now. I was in Guam for a couple of days before moving on to Honolulu and I have to say that I'm enjoying every minute of it. I just love the city-by-the-beach lifestyle. Although Guam is not as “wow” as Honolulu; the land of the Chamorro made me feel close to home. Besides the fact that you can speak Tagalog practically everywhere, Guam is a combination of Subic, Baguio and Batanes (typhoons and flat-roof houses) but Hawaii, it was love at first sight.
The weather is perfect, the scenery is breath-taking and the culture although diverse still maintained the Hawaiian customs. You get the best of both worlds: the beauty and the relaxing atmosphere of the beach life and the you’ll-never-get-bored way of life in the city. I love the fact that you see people riding their bikes with their surfboards and jogging at 11 in the evening. Maybe it's the ukelele, the pineapples or the hibiscus flowers but there's something about the place that makes everyone feel peaceful and just like that; you want to be a part of it. I envy my cousin for living here; it's more than a privilege. Imagine, waking up and going to your balcony with a view of Waikiki and Diamond Head, how can you ever get stressed out with that? Today, I walked the shores of Waikiki and it smelled like Piña Colada.
