L' Auberge Espagnole
I caught this on cable maybe about a month ago. The title of course literally means Spanish inn or apartment; and figuratively, a melting pot and even, a mess -- seeing that the plot gets moved by multi-cultural misunderstandings (sensibilities get offended, prejudices surface, etc.) The director has said that he intends his film to be an ad for travel because when people do so, things generally get better. (We learn to get along.) Ayun!

I also caught some of it on tv, got sucked in by the english-french-spanish dialogue. :)

Could especially relate to neighbors becoming instant buddies in crime, deceit, reckless fun,etc..haha.

Nice point about travel as a means of getting along. Not only between traveler and local, but also between traveler and companion. There's a line of intimacy that can't be left uncrossed between people who travel together--like seeing each other's dirty laundry, handling stress together (ex. lost tickets/luggage), etc. Kristine mentioned this before--friends don't necessarily make the best traveling buddies. :P

P.S. Maya Angelou said that you can tell a lot about a person from the way he handles lost luggage. :)
